Rather more than a Replica

When Archers Garage restored S221 some years ago the aluminium Peel fastback bodywork was removed and a new CoupĂ© top was made and fitted by Len Pritchard. The car's owner  Chris Clegg retained the fastback bodywork and the registration 184 FGJ, which was on the car during Peter Clark's ownership, on a retention certificate. So when Chris's son, Charlie, wanted his own Sebring, it was a natural progression to bring these items together with a new bodyshell to create a new Peel Sebring. While still at school, Charlie spent much of his free time at Archers Garage working on the car with Brian's guidance, and after Brian's death in 2008 he and Andrew Forster completed the car's painting and assembly.

Charlie Clegg gets "Driver of the Day" award at Silverstone on 184 FGJ's first outing

Having just completed the build of 184 FGJ with the assistance of Archers Garage and his father, Chris, Charlie Clegg got the car MOT'd and entered it in two 30 minute Equipe GTS races at Silverstone. Despite having only a 998cc engine Charlie battled it out with a Lancia Fulvia throughout one race, and was awarded the Driver of the Day Award.  (August 2009)
