The result of a complete nut & bolt rebuild of a 1959 car, finished early this year, with no mileage on the clock to date. Reason for sale - too many cars - not enough space - new project on the way.
Specification: The car has been built on a 1959 Frogeye shell with original log book & registration using Archers Sprinzel coupé kit & screens. The bonnet has been strengthened. The shell was stripped and rebuilt with new floors, sills, rear suspension hangers, new fuel tank, and a rear roll cage with door bars & detachable forward brace bar.The front suspension uses all new parts where possible, uprated shocks, poly bushes, 11/16" rose jointed anti-roll bar, recon steering rack. Rear axle 3.7 or 4.2 diff, new wheel bearings, new springs with poly bushes, and Panhard rod. Late-type ribbed gearbox. Brake system has all new parts: front discs, 3/4" master cylinder & servo. Wheels: 5½" x 14" minilite type with Avon 165 tyres. Engine: 1310cc rebuilt with re-ground crank +10thou, mildly gas-flowed Metro unleaded head, 731 camshaft, duplex timing, and double uprated valve springs. New clutch. LCB manifold and twin 1½" SU carbs. Electrics are late type, including alternator, column indicator/dip/horn, electric fan, late-type wiper motor & electric washers, late-type heater system. Full interior: with FIA hi-back seats, 4 point 3" seat belts, all new. 7 dial original dashboard, motorsport rev counter, and brake fluid warning light. Supplied with a new MOT.
Soon after it's construction Brian Mulcare sold the car to dealer Bill Postins. It was later acquired (May 2015) by Stephen Birch following a respray, the fitting of black 5.5J wire wheels and Ridgard seats. He is also planning to have the interior re-trimmed. In its new livery (left).
