Dedicated to the memory of the late Brian Archer who fulfilled his dream to re-create John Sprinzel's Sebring Sprite Coupé

Dean Powers Sebring Replica

being built in the USA

Dean bought his replica kit from Archers' in 1997 and is only now resuming the restoration/build. We plan to document its progress on this page in the coming months. It is to be a race car, and is to be painted metallic silver with the nose dipped in red. Dean has a 948 hot rod motor that will go in the car initially together with a straight cut close ratio, ribbed case gearbox. He was lucky enough to acquire a set of original Girling Sebring brakes from a friend some years ago. The friend told him he had bought them from a guy who had "some type of alloy coupe", but unfortunately he was not able to remember the gentleman's name or the whereabouts of the car other than it was somewhere in Long Beach, California. Dean is also planning to fit Sebring doors and lightweight seats from Archers, and possibly their side curtains (side-screens).

As of February 2011 Dean had just received his seats from Archers Garage, and was planning to move the bodyshell to another fabricator to finish it off ready for painting. He had completed assembling a rib-case straight cut close ratio gearbox and acquired a 1275 engine. He also had the good luck to pick up a Girling brake set-up from a friend for the incredibly small sum of 200 US dollars! More pictures of the car are due from Dean very shortly.
